Leach
field rejuvenation is a process where the clogged material at the junction
of the gravel and soil at the base of the field is shattered allowing
drainage to start again. The process is called soil fracturing and
is done by a machine called a Terralift. Soil fracturing has proved
very successful over the years. Of the 250 plus systems that All
Clear has
rejuvenated, only 8 have failed in the 1st year. Over a 5 year period,
another 15% have reported a recurrence of their original problem.
For 80% of those who did a soil fracture, the process saved them thousands
of dollars. Rejuvenation costs approximately 25% of a field replacement.
However, it is only fair to note that soil francturing is
not the answer to every failed field. Sometimes a
field that is built on a high water table, too close to a
pond or lake, or more than 25 years old can fail in less
than 4 years. Soil fracturing will not correct
poor/inadequate design, nor will it correct a high water
table problem. Such conditions are probably not good
choices for rejuvenation. As a result, care needs to be
taken that your system is an acceptable candidate for
rejuvenation.
